Our family has lived in this area for 6 generations. Scott Kellington, our director and lead operator, has over 25 years of experience driving, operating equipment, working with water systems, and overseeing many large projects. Our Story
Draper Contracting Ltd. is a family-owned and operated excavation and hauling business. We are led by Scott Kellington, who started our business to realize his lifelong dream. The original plan was to have Scott retain his job while doing work for the business on his days off. This plan was working well until July 7, 2017, when the Elephant Hill Wildfire raged through our area, including our own small farm which we have called home for 22 years. Thankfully, Scott was on a day off from his hourly job and was able to quickly leave the project that he was working on for Draper. It was also extremely lucky that our excavator was at home that day. Scott was able to save our home and that of our neighbours’ by making a fireguard around the 2 homes with the excavator. I shudder to think of what would have happened if we hadn’t started Draper. As you can imagine, after the fire there was a lot of work to clean up and rebuild, as our whole area was badly burned and many structures were lost.
Scott quit his hourly job and dedicated himself full time to running Draper Contracting Ltd. immediately following the fire. We have learned a lot in the last few years and had many great experiences. Draper Contracting Ltd. rose from the ashes of the Elephant Hill Wildfire. We are proud of the company we have built with our strength, determination, honesty, and hard work.
